Introduction

Adrenal gland is a pair of small glands situated on the top of each kidney.This gland is also called suprarenal gland. Adrenal gland is a endocrine gland. because it secretes hormones which is directly transported to different body parts via the blood. Though it is small in size, it has a list of several important function in human body.


Parts of Adrenal Gland and their secretions

 It has two part, Cortex and Medulla. The cortex secretes two hormones called aldosterone and hydrosterone. The function of aldosterone is to maintain the amount of salt in our body whereas the function of the hydrosterone is to maintain water level in the body. 

On the other hand, the medulla secretes hormones called Epinephrine and Norepinephrine. These two hormones are together termed as Adrenaline hormone. It has a crucial function in human body. Its function is to prepare the body to face emergency situations of stress, cold, fear, stress and injury, etc. It stimulates our body to response as quick as possible to a particular critical condition. So, it also known as the emergency gland.

What is adrenal Tumor?

Adrenal Tumor is excess outgrowth of the cells of the adrenal gland. It may be cancerous or non cancerous in nature.The causing factor of adrenal Tumor is till date unknown.It can occur among the people of all age groups.

Symptoms of Adrenal Tumor

1.High Blood Pressure
2.Increased Blood Sugar
3.Palpitation and Short tempered behaviour
4.Excess Pubic hair growth
5.Excess sweating 
6.Irregularity in menstrual cycle
7.Sudden Weight gain
8.Frequent urination

Method of Diagnosis

Adrenal Tumor can be diagnosed by following the procedure mentioned below:

1. Biopsy test 
2.Ultrasound
3.CT scan (Computerized Tomography)
4.MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)

Treatment 

Following Procedures can be adopted for the treatment of Adrenal Tumor:

1.Surgery
2.Chemotherapy (If the tumor is cancerous)
3.Radiation  Therapy (If the tumor is cancerous)
